Homework

Homework provides students with the opportunity for additional academic practice and makes a connection between home and school. You can expect that all homework assignments will have a clear purpose, and will have been properly explained to your child, whether verbally, in writing, or both.

Middle School Students can expect homework every night. (Grades 5-8)

Sample assignments may include:

  • Novel group work

Upper Elementary Students can expect homework almost every night. (Grades 3-4)

Lower Elementary. (Grades 1-2) First and Second Year students should read aloud at least 10-15 minutes each day at a level comfortable enough to practice fluency. (Alternating sentences or paragraphs with a parent or friend is encouraged.) If you need beginner reading resources, please ask Lydia.

A monthly Homework Activity Calendar goes home at the beginning of each month and is returned to school at the end of the month. First year students choose at least 2 activities per week and Second year students choose at least 3 activities per week.

Additional homework may be given on an individual basis as needed or requested.
